August 19&20 we took motorcycle rides to Mt Rainier. We journeyed to the South entrance at Paradise first and the next day to the North entrance at Sunrise. The clouds blocked our view at Paradise, so I had to hike up two miles to get a closer look. I couldn't stop my hike, I wanted to go further and further!
Mt Rainier is an active volcano that first erupted about a half a million years ago. It stands 14,410 feet above sea level. There were many scenic overlooks, water falls and hiking paths. There are also 25 major glaciers, and wildlife including black tail deer, marmots, black bears, and red fox. Unfortunately we didn't see any of them!
However, we were able to view Mt Rainier as the wind blew away the clouds and the sun shone on this majestic mountain! I couldn't stop taking pictures! The glistening snow on the glaciers, along with the vivid wildflowers highlights the full glory of this incredible mountain. We enjoyed our time at Mt Rainier and encourage all who love nature to take the time to visit this wonderful National Park: another treasure!
