We packed up the Harley and headed to Canada, crossing the Border was smooth. We headed to Saint John and enjoyed the views of the Bay of Fundy. Not long after we arrived the fog rolled in and we lost sight of our beautiful views. We left for Halifax, Nova Scotia in our rain gear. A cold, foggy and wet ride for about 3 hours. We crossed into Amherst, Nova Scotia and the winds were crazy! They say it is normal! It was a long ride to Halifax. Crossing the Mackay Bridge was spectacular! We found a room downtown right across from the Halifax Jazz Festival. A beautiful summer evening to stroll along the boardwalk and people watch. We visited the Halifax Citadel National Historic site. I can see why they chose this site. A great place to protect the harbour. The next day we headed for Digby. A beautiful day and ride! We actually rode all around The Bay of Fundy. The tides rise and fall up to 32 feet! The Basin is filled twice a day and then the water is drawn back into the Fundy. Digby is famous for Scallops because the cold water temperature does not vary more than a few degrees all year long. Lobster, clams and mussels also are plentiful here. Our rides were long, we put over 800 miles on the Harley from Tuesday-Friday! Jerry was so happy when we took the Ferry from Digby back to Saint John! I will post pics of our trip. I definitely needed a conversion chart for kilometers and Celsius!! We enjoyed our visit, but happy to be back in the USA!
I am going to create a blog to capture our exciting adventures as Jerry and I set out to travel around this beautiful country. Our adventure begins on June 16th, 2014.
